If you're moving to Lakewood Ranch and a larger lot is on the top of your list, The Country Club is worth considering.
This established gated community in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, has individual properties on lots approaching or exceeding half an acre. For example, published property records identify a 0.49-acre homesite on Lone Tree Glen and a 0.55-acre homesite nearby. Not every property has this much land, but the variety of lot sizes gives buyers some interesting options.
Whether you're relocating from another part of Florida or coming from out of state, here's what you should know about the homes, outdoor space, golf amenities and 2026 real estate market at The Country Club.
Why Look at The Country Club for a Larger Lot?
One of the first things I recommend when helping buyers compare Lakewood Ranch communities is to look beyond the home's interior square footage.
A beautiful kitchen and an open floor plan are great, but what about the space outside?
How much room is there between neighboring homes? Is there a pool or covered lanai? Does the backyard overlook water, a golf course or an established planting area? And how much of the actual property can you use?
The Country Club offers different residential styles, from attached residences and smaller detached homes to substantial custom-built properties. Some of its homes date to the late 1990s and early 2000s, providing an alternative to newer construction elsewhere in Lakewood Ranch.
You won't find the same lot size on every street. That's why comparing individual parcels is important.

For comparison, half an acre equals 21,780 square feet.
That gives you a helpful reference point when reviewing properties advertised as having oversized lots.
What Can a Larger Lot Mean for Everyday Living?
More room for outdoor living
A larger parcel may provide additional space for a screened pool, covered lanai, patio, outdoor dining area or existing garden.
Imagine enjoying coffee outside before heading to the golf course, or spending an evening around your pool after a day at the beach.
Of course, the total acreage doesn't tell the whole story. The placement of the home, pool, garage, easements and neighboring structures determines how the space functions.
Greater separation between neighboring homes
For some buyers, the amount of open space around a house matters almost as much as the floor plan.
Larger side yards and thoughtfully positioned homes can create a more open feeling. Certain homes also have side-entry garages, which can change the appearance and usability of the driveway and front yard.
But separation and privacy need to be judged at the individual property. A half-acre lot with a home close to one boundary may feel quite different from another lot of the same size.
Room to enjoy established outdoor features
Some larger Country Club properties have mature trees, palms, landscaped borders and outdoor living areas that have developed over many years.
Those features may be appealing if you don't want to start with a bare yard. They also come with maintenance responsibilities that should be part of your buying decision.
The Country Club's Golf and Recreation Amenities
The Country Club is associated geographically with Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club, a private membership organization.
According to the club's official information, its golf facilities include four private 18-hole courses, totaling 72 holes.
Three are in the original Country Club area:
- Cypress Links
- King's Dunes
- The Legacy
The fourth, Royal Lakes, is in Country Club East.
The private club also offers tennis, pickleball, fitness, swimming, dining and social activities through its membership categories.
An important point for relocating buyers: Purchasing a home in The Country Club does not automatically include a private golf membership.
Membership is a separate financial decision.
The club's January 2026 pricing document lists a $95,000 nonrefundable initiation fee and $1,360 in monthly dues for Premier Golf membership. These published prices are subject to change, and additional charges may apply.
You can review the official 2026 membership pricing before speaking directly with the membership office.
2026 Real Estate Market Update: The Country Club at Lakewood Ranch
Here's a quick look at the latest completed monthly neighborhood data available as of October 16, 2026.
According to Redfin's September 2026 report for its mapped The Country Club neighborhood:
Market Indicator | September 2026 |
Median home sale price | $599,832 |
Homes sold | 33 |
Median days on market | 83 |
Median sale-to-list price ratio | 95.5% |
Median sale price per square foot | Approximately $280 |
The reported median sale price was 35.5% lower than the corresponding period a year earlier. However, because the area includes very different types of homes, changes in which properties sold can strongly influence that figure.
These statistics include multiple home types and should not be interpreted as the median price of a larger-lot detached residence.

What does this mean if you're relocating?
It means you should review recent sales that closely match your preferred property type, lot size, home condition and location.
A residence on a half-acre homesite cannot be accurately priced by comparing it only with a smaller attached home elsewhere in the neighborhood.
I'd also pay attention to time on market, price reductions, and the difference between asking and final sale prices before making an offer.

Travel times will depend on your specific address, route and traffic.
Important Costs to Review Before Buying
A bigger lot can mean more outdoor space, but it can also mean additional upkeep.
Before you purchase, I recommend reviewing:
- HOA dues: Confirm the correct association, annual or monthly charges and maintenance responsibilities.
- CDD assessments: Obtain the exact current district assessment for the property.
- Landscaping and irrigation: Establish who maintains the yard, trees, irrigation system and common areas.
- Pool maintenance: Review the pool equipment, surface condition, screen enclosure and anticipated service needs.
- Roof and insurance: Check the condition of the roof, wind-mitigation features and available coverage.
- Flood information: Look up the address using the official FEMA map resources.
- Property taxes: Estimate your own future taxes rather than assuming the current owner's bill will stay the same.
- Architectural rules: Confirm any approval requirements before planning a pool addition, fence, outdoor kitchen or other exterior work.
The Manatee County Property Appraiser provides parcel records and property tax information.
The FEMA Flood Map Service Center is a starting point for checking flood information by address.
